Bloomsbury Painters & Decorators
Exterior painting & joinery
Bloomsbury's painted details sit within a larger composition of brick, glazing and garden greenery. An exterior commission can bring railings, stucco ground floors and timber sashes back into a coherent scheme, with the treatment established before access equipment is arranged.
Discuss your project
Draw the line around the painted surfaces
Mark the proposed work on an elevation photograph. Distinguish previously painted stucco from exposed brick, and identify the doors, window frames, railings and basement-level details to be included. Camden's appraisal warns against unsuitable coatings on historic brickwork; a first paint treatment to bare masonry needs its own assessment rather than being folded into a repaint.

Prepare ironwork without losing its detail
Examine existing coatings, joints and areas of corrosion before choosing the preparation and coating system. Record any metal repairs separately. Protect adjacent stone, glass and paving, and resolve how the inside faces of railings will be reached. On a protected building, the proposed method needs to be considered alongside the visible finish.
Treat each sash as working joinery
Include the condition of the timber and glazing putty, the meeting rails and the movement of the sashes in the initial review. Distinguish painting from joinery repairs and agree the treatment before work starts. Plan opening, drying and overnight security with the occupant; a window is both a decorative element and part of the room's daily use.
Resolve stucco and entrance details together
Identify loose areas, cracking and unresolved moisture before selecting a finish for the ground floor. The door surround, fanlight frame and adjacent railings should be considered in the same sample discussion. Record the preparation and coating product as well as the shade, with any consent conditions attached to that specification.
Plan the pavement edge
Confirm the property boundary and where equipment, protection and deliveries would sit. Public-highway scaffolding has a licensing process, while occupying a parking bay can require a separate suspension. The working arrangement must allow for the public entrance, residents above and the street outside; equipment availability alone does not settle those permissions.
