Practical notes for your repaint
Access, loading & street permissions
A central street or a garden-square frontage can make the route to a surface as significant as the surface itself. Establish the delivery point, carrying route and location of access equipment before fixing an exterior or upper-floor decorating programme.

Inspect the route from the vehicle to the room
Record the street restrictions and the actual unloading position, then follow the route through the entrance and stairs. Include steps, tight turns, shared doors and any rules about delivery times. Do not assume that the nearest kerb space is available for the duration of the work, or that a common landing can hold materials.
Use the right parking arrangement
Camden distinguishes a parking suspension for a defined purpose from ordinary trades parking. Its general suspension guidance asks for applications at least 17 days in advance and does not guarantee a clear space. Check the current conditions for the bay concerned, including posted signs, before relying on a delivery or equipment location.

Treat scaffolding and a bay suspension separately
Camden's building-licence process covers scaffolds and other relevant structures on the highway. A parking suspension is also needed where the works occupy all or part of a parking space. Establish who will arrange each application and confirm the approved location before erection; permission to park does not grant permission to place a structure on the pavement.

If a skip is necessary, use its own process
A skip on a public road needs a Camden licence, applied for by the skip company. It cannot be placed on the pavement, and a parking suspension is needed if a bay is occupied. Decide whether a skip is appropriate to the actual work and agree the licensed position and collection arrangements before it arrives.

Check vehicle requirements with TfL
Review the journey and vehicle against Transport for London's ULEZ and Congestion Charge tools. These checks are separate from parking and highway permissions. Use the current official information when planning deliveries; the vehicle's compliance, route and travel time determine the relevant requirements, and should not be assumed from the decorating address alone.
Bring the access decisions back into the quotation
Record the agreed equipment, permissions, carrying route and building contacts with the surface schedule. Explain any dependence on a licence, suspension or another contractor's programme before dates are settled. For listed exteriors, the access plan and the approved treatment need to fit the same instruction, including the protection of railings, entrances and historic surfaces.
